Polis Town

Fish meze: Arsinoe Tavern

Arsinoe Fish Tavern.  3 Griva Digeni Street, Polis 8820. They catch their own fish, personal service. Located next to small church in Polis Square in Griva Digeni in the pedestrian area of the old town, looks plain from outside but it’s a hidden gem. Tel nos:  26321590, 99512037 , 26 321085  Evenings only. Many of our clients  are recommending this tavern

Review by Louis and Sarah,  August 2014:

This evening we went for a Fish Meze at Arsinoe Fish Tavern in the old town of Polis, which had been recommended to us. We arrived at 6:30 and were told that they did not open until 7.  At 7:30 we returned and just got a table due to the Cypriots having pre booked. Luckily the owner made an effort and got a spare table from somewhere and set it out especially for us. The owner told us that the fish of the day had been caught by his father-in-law hours ago and that all the fish they served were freshly caught that day. He also invited us to have a look at them before ordering.

Every dish was delicious and the one that stood out was the sword fish which was by far the best we have ever tasted.

For such a reasonable price (36 Euros all in, 2 persons) the food was amazing. For this price we had; a glass of house white wine, a large Keo beer and the meze which consisted of; a fish soup, a large salad, dips and pitta bread, cous cous, octopus, sardines, prawns, mussels, crab, sword fish, chips, calamari and a large plate of fried whole fish.20140822_20195120140822_205208

We would recommend booking as by 7:45 people were being turned away. Some of the staff speak limited English so booking in person at the restaurant is advised. This is where your Sundance Villas Representative will come in handy, they will be pleased to pre book a table for you.
