Loggerhead turtle rescued from fisherman’s nets at Lara, Cyprus

Sundance Villas Manager Neoptolemos Michael was able to see the rescue and release of this loggerhead turtle, which had got caught up in a fisherman’s nets at Lara Bay.

It is estimated to be 4 years old. All turtles are protected in Cyprus, and this one was back in the sea shortly after this photo was taken. You may be lucky enough to see the baby turtles hatching and scampering to the sea, when you are in Cyprus. The turtles lay their eggs in the soft sand, and conservationists then place a metal protector over them.
