Coral Bay
Coral Bay is a large horseshoe-shaped cove flanked by cliffs.
The horseshoe shape offers protection against waves and currents so it is usually warm and calm. It offers a lovely sandy beach with shallow entry so safe for young children, (and there are no annoying pebbles underfoot either), with safe swimming and Blue Flag status.
Access is easy and there is wooden decking near the entrance leading to the sun loungers and parasols designated area, which is great if are pushing a baby buggy.
There are lots of water sports and family-friendly activities including inflatables, parascending, diving and water skiing, and if you walk to either end there are less people and the sand is free of sun loungers. There are bars and restaurants on the beach, and just up the hill in the Coral Bay Strip you can find a wide choice of eating places, something for everyone. (I will send you lots more information before you go.)
High rise development has been restrained in the area, and there is plenty of Mediterranean flora around, making the approach to Coral Bay attractive.
At the northern end of Coral Bay, you can find an excavated 13th-century BC settlement, Maa-Paleokastro.
Villas in this area include 4 bedroom Villa Kingfisher tucked away in an exclusive quiet leafy lane between the Strip and Coral Bay beach.
The next beach along going away from Paphos has the same sand as Coral Bay but is smaller and narrower and tends to attract fewer people, as many do not realise it is there. This is Corallia Beach, and again it has no or very few pebbles, and is usually warm and calm. It is a favourite with our Rep Nicole as her sons love to fish off the rocks at the end. Access is by steps. The Corallia fish tavern here is a pleasant place to eat fish by the sea.
Villas in the Corallia beach area include 3 bedroom Villa Athena with heated private pool, 400m.
The Coral Bay Strip offers a wide variety of restaurants, taverns, bars and shops. There is something for everyone here from a bar with pool table to a steakhouse, and Sundance Villas favourite Samisen Japanese where the animated waiter cooks the food in front of you.
Peyia Town offers a good variety of restaurants and bars including Sundance Villas favourite Peyia Tavern, which has been there as long as we have, run by Michael and his 2 sons. Pre book to get a table on the cooler terrace in Summer.
